Spend Overview

Spend alert: Explains which configured spend or budget threshold is currently met; it does not change Azure resources.
  • Budget 'default-monthly-budget' actual spend is at 141.3% of its 92.10 USD amount (configured notification threshold 80.0%).
  • Reservation 'Standard_B2ms' (resord-standard-b2ms-res-1) average utilization is 55.6% (below the 70.0% threshold).

Note

An estimate, not a budget or guarantee — set an actual threshold on Budgets to get alerted.

Cost health

A 0-100 score computed from three weighted inputs: current 30-day spend trend, budget/threshold/reservation alert severity, and forecast-vs-budget pressure; not an Azure-reported metric.
Composite score
Why this matters

A falling score usually points to one specific driver, not a general decline — check the sub-metrics above (trend/budget/forecast) to see which one moved, then drill into Cost Allocation, Budgets, or Recommendations for that driver.

  • Budget status: A budget, threshold, or reservation alert is currently active.
  • Trend: Spend is trending down 0.4% vs. the prior period.
  • Forecast vs. budget: Forecast next-period spend is 185% of total active budget.

Spend by category

Each resource group's share of total actual cost for the last 30 days, in USD. Percentages are computed from Azure Cost Management actual-cost data grouped by resource group and sum to 100% of the window total.
1 resource group · last 30 days
Why this matters

Concentrated spend in one or two resource groups is worth investigating before it's worth optimizing — cross-check the largest categories against Cost Allocation for the full resource-group/tag breakdown, or Recommendations for optimization ideas tied to those resources.

Daily spend

Each point is one calendar day's actual cost from Azure Cost Management, in USD, for the last 30 days.
30 days · last 30 days · USD
Why this matters

A sudden day-over-day spike may be a one-time event or an early anomaly signal — it isn't flagged automatically. Cross-check against the spend-alert banner above and Budgets for a corresponding threshold breach before treating it as a trend.

Spend forecast

Projects each of the next 30 days' cost by fitting a linear regression to the recent daily-cost history; labeled as an estimate, not a budget or commitment.
Linear estimate · 30 days projected · USD
Why this matters

Use this to see whether the current trend is heading toward a budget breach before it happens — compare the projected total against Budgets' configured thresholds. A forecast that diverges sharply from actual daily spend is a sign to re-check it more often, not to distrust the method.

Spend vs. resource count

Each point plots one resource group's actual cost (y-axis) against its actual resource count (x-axis, from the Resource Graph Checks poll) for the same window as the other spend widgets on this page; position alone does not prove waste.
1 resource group plotted
Why this matters

A resource group high on cost but low on resource count is worth a closer look — a small number of expensive resources concentrates risk differently than the same spend spread across many. Cross-check outliers against Rightsizing or Recommendations before acting.
